Gender Equality Fermanagh Women's Network developed the publication 'Stepping Out As Equals' in 2005 following an evaluation of the work into Gender Awareness carried out to that point by FWN. Fermanagh Women's Network have assumed the lead role in the development of a Gender Equality Strategy for the county Fermanagh. When developing the strategic planning to carry this out, the initial task was to identify other agencies and organisations in Fermanagh who had an interest in, and commitment to, Gender Equality. It was anticipated that representatives of those agencies would form a committee or team to which would be the lead body for the design & subsequent implementation of the strategy. The Design Team was created in May 2007 and consists of members of varying public sector bodies and private members. Their role is to meet and discuss the ideas around carrying out Gender Awareness training, and uses their wealth of experience and knowledge to decide how to best implement the Gender Equality Strategy. The Fermanagh Women's Network does not see the promotion of equality for women as being women's responsibility. Rather, it is the responsibility of society as a whole to ensure that all citizens are afforded an opportunity to realise their full potential. This principle underpins its aim on the development and implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy.
